Literature Organizer

I know you can teach in a college/university with a PhD in english literature, but I have heard that the job market is rather swamped with would-be english professors and that it will be very difficult to secure a position (a full-time one I mean) and gain tenure.

I was wondering if you guys would be able to either dispell these notions, or give me alternative career paths that I might want to consider?

I would also like to ask if anyone knows the average salary of an english professor and how it ranks up with other professors in different subjects?

p.s. bare in mind that I am asking for career paths that I can go down with a PhD in english literature, not for generic careers for someone just interested in the subject of english in general with no specific academic credential in mind.

I’ve just finished my PHd here in Italy and I’d like to move to the UK.
I have a degree in English&German, I’m an Italian mothertongue and I have a PhD in English literature.
What kind of possibility do I have?

I recently got a job selling reprints of a well known newspaper. As the economy is the way it is, I want to make sure I’m standing out amongst my competition, and making myself indispensable. Does anyone know of any literature that might help with this? The more geared towards the sales of reprints the better! Thanks!

I am a high school teacher but now I want to teach in a college or university? I cannot quit job and I cannot move from here. Any suggestions?
