What to do if you are over-qualified for your home country?

I have a double major in English literature and environmental science, and an MA in Arabic. The only job I can find in my country–an Arabian Gulf country–is a middle school teacher. I’m really suffering because I would like to understand why is this happening in such a rich country. Maybe it is rich and backwards? I’m definitely not talking about the UAE here. On top of it all, the curriculum I have to teach is completely absurd. I cannot stand it
Is it legal to teach the Bible as literature in public schools in the US?

Any particular cases about this? Personal opinions are OK, but try to back them up with facts ![]()
By literature, I mean teach it in an English class as part of the curriculum.
ebeth : Thanks for the speedy response! Out of curiousity, did you feel the teacher showed any bias (either implied Bible was God’s word, or implied it was fiction)?
Or did he/she handle it pretty neutrally?

What is the best curriculum to learn literature (technical terms, etc.)? How can I get this curriculum?

Also, if no “perfect” curriculum is available, are there any classes that I, a homeschooler, may take?
I am looking for a good high school literature program–any recommendations?

My daughter will be 14–last year she completed Starting Points–which is a beginning world view curriculum. I loved it because she read really good literature and also did alot of writing. I am considering Lightening LIt by Hewitt Publishing. any help would be appreciated.
